I'm back ...
... and I don't know if anyone ever guessed (or even tried) to figure out where I went on vacation. Here is the last hint:

Hey you aren't too far from where I grew up. Did you hear about the crazy fireworks incident on 4th of July there?
Yeah, it was talked about at a couple of places. It was also in the August newspaper (published 9 times a year on the island). IIRC, three of the four workers died (either at the scene or in route to the hospitals) and one is recovering but is severely burned. We saw some charred foliage near the NPS buildings near the docks and the NCAAT building (once the old Coast Guard building) but we didn't check for burn marks on the asphalt. Seemed like a really morbid thing to go and do.
