Heading down the homestretch ...

... my tenure packet is due to reviewers on the 7th. That means that, since the 7th is a holiday, I really need to get it turned in by the 4th. That is the same day I have an invited presentation to a state agency. So, I'm going to be super busy again. I'll probably resume full-fledged blogging next week.

The only thing I have left to say is: Boomer Sooner!

I fully expect a total thrashing of BYU at the hands of Oklahoma this weekend.

good luck with everything, invited presentations always seem to come at inconvenient times. Hopefully you can just regurgitate a previous presentation so it won't be too much extra work.

soil mama,

Thanks. It stinks having to condense your entire scientific career to an approximately 15 page document, written so people not in your field can understand what you did while highlighting all the important impact stuff. As for my presentation, I've given this talk a couple of times, and fortunately one of my collaborators sent me some of the information he's recently compiled (monetary figures, geographic maps, and the like) so I should be able to "plug-n-play" some of his elements into one of my prior talks.

Gah! The stress!

Wow, tenure packet...that's awesome! How long do they make you wait before they tell you whether you got it? Good luck!

I should know in about six to eight weeks. The process is a bit different from academia, but the end result is pretty much the same.

Boomer Sooner !?!?!?!?! Really!?!?!?!?!?

First, good luck with tenure - no matter where you are, getting over that hump is huge.

Second, Branch out a bit in your pigskin preferences. I can recommend an excellent SEC team that plays down on the Bayou. In fact, I'll be watchin gtheir season opener - in Seattle no less.

Geaux Tigers!

Only a couple more days to do now. I hope everything is going well and you are on track!

Phil: LS Who? ;)

MXX: Seminar is completed, but still unpracticed (I'll probably go over it Thursday night once or twice). Tenure packet is with my colleagues giving it another read through. It's mostly done. The last round knocked off most of the things they were not clear on (mostly on the same issues), so the next round is probably going to piddle around with phrasing and shuffling of bits and pieces to most effectively hammer the point home. I hope.

Good luck and we may have to wager something on the Red River Shootout.
