That new park is kicking everyone's ass. Don't feel bad, its been a terrible year to be a Braves fan too! Now I bet you guys are wishing that you signed Lowe rather than resigning Perez.
Hey but K-Rod has been money, Murphy has been producing, Wright has been great except for the lack of power but that will adjust once he gets comfortable with the new park. One guy on the team that I like is Schneider, he doesn't slug but at least the guy makes productive outs, and the guy does a good job of avoiding striking out.
Delgado is the freaking albatross of the team. How much longer is his contract, you guys need a new first baseman.
I've been a big fan of both Schneider and Church (now with your Braves), and thought they were both great additions to the Mets. I think if Church hadn't had a concussion last year the Mets could have possibly won 1 or 2 (or possibly 3) more games (which would have put them in the playoffs).
The back end of the bullpen has been solid (what do you expect?) and most of the relievers have been doing MUCH better than they did last year, when the whole thing essentially imploded.
I'm not sure how many more years Delgado's contract is for ... hopefully not too many more! Though right now, I'm not sure the Mets have anyone in their farm system to replace him, and they don't have the sort of depth in their farm system to get a quality bat either.
I'm not sure how the Francouer experiment is going to work out. Hopefully better than it did in Atlanta! Six and a half games back ... not sure we'll be able to climb out of that hole.
Francouer is a guy with this amazing talent that he has yet to tap into it, he just doesn't seem to have the brains to do it. Chipper tried to help him with his batting, but this guy is a hacker. He is the same mold as Vlad Guerrero but with way less talent. If he could ever learn plate discipline, this kid would be sick. I think you guys may get the better out of the deal. With Church the immediate benefits are realized but with Francouer you may get a mediocre outfield who could possibly develop into an all-star if he can correct a few deficiencies.
Well, yah ... I guess it could be worse. But really who cares about the Pirates ... it's an entirely different story when it is losing to the Braves! Our arch-enemy!
That's like the Knicks of the 90's losing all the time to the Bulls. Who cares if they lose to the Warriors ... just don't lose to the Bulls!
Yeah, its always fun to watch those series. Its just good ole fashion competition rather than other rivalries where fights are always bound to break out. I give you guys credit for winning with no Reyes, Delgado, or Delgado.
If Delgado rides the pine anymore with an injury they'll have to throw him back on the DL for another 15 days for a sore backside once he comes off the list.
(It's a ...)Micro World (... after all) (formerly known as Bio-Fuel!),is a blog dedicated to discussing pretty much whatever I feel like. When I delve into scientific matters it will primarily be discussing microbiology (agricultural, bioenergy, and environmental focus) and astronomy. Otherwise, I'll probably ramble on about sports.
Who is this joker?
Thomas Joseph
Professionally I am a bug hunter (aka microbiologist) and a gene jockey (aka molecular biologist). I started my career as a med tech, but now I'm a research scientist who studies environmental microbiology. When I'm not answering scientific questions about the roles that microbes play on climate change and/or water and soil quality, I'm an amateur astronomer and play racquetball. I'm also a sports nut, though my liking of both the NY Metropolitans (baseball) and NY Jets (football) tests my devotion to these sports on a continual basis. Fortunately, I'm also an OU alumnus (PhD, Microbiology) and we usually have a pretty good football team. BoomerSooner!

Hells yeah! I thought it was a bad idea (resigning Perez) the moment it happened!

After this weekend, that's cold comfort.
Dropping 3 of 4 to the Braves. What could possibly be worse than that????
